No accounts, no ads, no cross-site profiling
Octet has no sign-up, no login and no user profile: no accounts, no ads, no cross-site profiling - only cookieless aggregate Cloudflare analytics. It loads no advertising trackers and no tracking pixels, and it sells nothing about you to anyone, because it collects nothing about you to sell. The one measurement script on the site is Cloudflare Web Analytics, described below: it sets no cookies, follows nobody between sites and builds no individual profile, which is why there is no consent banner to click.
- No account is needed to use any part of the app, free or Premium.
- No cookies are set for advertising, profiling or cross-site measurement.
- The only cookie the site writes is a first-party language preference you set yourself in Settings.
- The only measurement script is Cloudflare's cookieless analytics beacon; the RevenueCat and Stripe checkout scripts load only when you start a purchase.
Your data stays in this browser
Octet is a static site. There is no server database and no sync service: your progress, settings, saved records, quiz history, flashcard mastery and workspace state are written to this browser's localStorage under the scoped keys below, and they never leave the device unless you export them yourself. Clearing your browser storage deletes them permanently, and nobody, including us, holds a copy to restore from.

- native-practice:octet

- native-settings:octet

Inspecting, exporting and deleting your data
The Data route lets you read every value Octet has stored, export it as JSON, import it into another browser, and erase it. It touches only the keys listed above, so unrelated data belonging to other sites on this origin is left alone. Because the data lives on your device, a deletion request is something you carry out yourself in seconds, and no request to us is required.
Payments
Premium is processed by RevenueCat Web Billing and Stripe. Your email address and card details are handled directly by those providers under their own privacy policies - Octet never sees, receives or stores card data, and it has no access to the payment method behind a subscription. Keep the receipt email, because it is what proves a purchase and what carries the cancellation link. Two extra browser-local keys support this, and the Data route deliberately leaves them alone so clearing your study data does not cost you the Premium you paid for.
- octet.rc.appUserId - an anonymous RevenueCat purchase id, so Premium is recognised on this device.
- octet.accessCodeSaved - a single flag recording that you have saved your access code.
Analytics and hosting
Octet is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and served from Cloudflare's global edge, so the network location closest to you serves the files. Traffic measurement is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate-only: page-view counts and load-performance figures, with no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no device fingerprinting and no individual profiles. It never receives your study answers, saved records or quiz results. Cloudflare also processes standard request data such as IP address to serve and protect the site, as any web host must. No other analytics vendor is used.
Children and changes to this policy
Octet is a study and reference tool for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and because it holds no accounts it knowingly collects no personal information from anyone. If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it; material changes will be described here rather than applied quietly.
Who runs Octet, and how to reach us
Octet is an independent study and reference app for organic chemistry, built and run by a small independent team. It is not affiliated with any university, examining board, publisher, chemical supplier or professional body, and it publishes no material on their behalf. There is no company office to visit and no call centre: one inbox handles everything, and it is read by the people who build the app.
Write to [email protected] for a billing or subscription problem, a privacy request, a correction to a reaction or reference value, or anything else about these pages. Include the receipt email address you paid with when the question is about a purchase, since that is the only thing that identifies a purchase.
